Microsoft’s Azure Growth Slows
微软公司最近一个季度的云计算收入增长放缓,预计本季度还会进一步放缓。
Microsoft Corp.’s cloud-computing revenue growth slowed in the latest quarter, and it’s expected to slow further in the current quarter.
微软认为,6月份的业绩表现低于公司预期,但是这并非因为人工智能需求不足,而一定程度上是因为某些欧洲市场表现疲软。总体而言,市场对于人工智能的需求旺盛,超过微软云计算当前的供给能力。
Microsoft attributed the June-quarter performance, which came in at the low end of the company’s own forecast, in part to late softness in certain European markets, unrelated to artificial intelligence. And in general, AI demand continues to outstrip Microsoft’s capacity in the cloud.
微软预计,在人工智能的推动下,云计算在新财年的下半年将重拾增长势头。该公司预计,在人工智能基础设施方面的支出在2025财年将有所增长,以推动提升人工智能能力。
In the second half of the new fiscal year, though, Microsoft expects that Azure growth will pick back up again, fueled by a boost to its AI capacity. And that capacity increase will reflect the company’s spending on AI infrastructure, which is expected to grow in fiscal 2025.

Microsoft’s management defended that spending on the earnings call, in response to questions that touched on Wall Street’s more measured view of AI investments that has come to the forefront over the past month.
Starbucks revenue misses estimates

Starbucks on Tuesday reported quarterly revenue that missed analysts’expectations. CEO Laxman Narasimhan said on Tuesday that more shoppers are buying its packaged coffee at grocery stores, but a “challenging consumer environment” is weighing on sales at its cafes.
该季度,星巴克美国门店的客流量再次下降,降幅达6%。在北美以外的地区,同店销售额则下滑了 7%。星巴克在中国也面临着来自本地咖啡店的激烈竞争。但中国也出现了一些令星巴克乐观的迹象。纳思瀚称,中国市场的日均交易额和周销售额在逐季提高。
Traffic to its U.S. stores fell again this quarter, dropping 6%. Outside of North America, same-store sales slid 7%. Starbucks has faced stiffer competition in China from local coffee shops. But there are encouraging signs in the country, too. Average daily transactions and weekly sales in China have improved sequentially quarter-over-quarter, according to Narasimhan.

The company is in the “early stages” of exploring strategic partnerships to accelerate its growth in China, Narasimhan said.
